Trail King
Trail King at Western Truck & Trailer

Trail King trailers.

Match the trailer to the move.

A wheel loader, a low-clearance lift and a load of bulk material need different hauling equipment. Compare Trail King’s product families, check Western’s current listings and discuss the configuration your work requires.

Heavy equipment & front loading

Detachable lowboys

Compare the deck length, loaded height, load concentration and gooseneck clearance around the actual machine. Trail King lists both construction and commercial detachable configurations; confirm the model before carrying a specification across families.

Models to discuss

TKHDG construction lowboys · Commercial detachable goosenecks · Detachable double-drop extendables

Check the fit

What are the machine’s operating weight, transport dimensions and support points?

Rear loading & low-clearance equipment

Sliding tails & equipment trailers

Compare a hydraulic sliding tail, hydraulic tail or sliding axle around how the equipment gets on and off. Loading angle, breakover clearance, winch equipment and dock access matter alongside the deck rating.

Models to discuss

TKHST Hydraulic Sliding Tail · TKHT Hydraulic Tail · TKSA Sliding Axle

Check the fit

Will the load drive on, winch on or transfer from a dock?

Open-deck freight & taller cargo

Steel-aluminum step decks

The combo step-deck range combines a steel frame with aluminum decking. Compare loaded deck height, ground clearance and concentrated-load rating against the freight’s height and support footprint.

Models to discuss

TK80ACS-34 · TK80ACS-38 · TK80ACS-40

Check the fit

How tall is the loaded combination, and where does the load sit on the deck?

Choose the discharge method

Material-hauling trailers

A live bottom discharges material horizontally; bottom and side dumps use different unloading methods. Compare the material, receiving site, clearance and discharge pattern before discussing a specific trailer.

Models to discuss

TKLB Live Bottom · TKLBH Heavy Live Bottom · TKBD Bottom Dump · TKSSD Steel Side Dump

Check the fit

Where does the material need to land, and what unloading room is available?

Tag & tilt trailers

Match the trailer to the tow vehicle, hitch, brakes and machine. Trail King’s tag, tilt and utility families offer different loading arrangements; compare the complete towing combination before choosing capacity.

Models to discuss

TKLP Tag · TKTLP Tilt · TKTU Tilt Utility · TKU Utility

What are the tow vehicle, hitch rating and equipment loading requirements?

A useful first conversation

Bring the load details. Leave with a clearer specification.

The same model family can include different dimensions, running gear and loading equipment. Build the proposal around the job and verify the exact trailer before committing.

  1. Load and support points

Send weight, transport dimensions, wheelbase or track contact length, and any attachments that travel with the machine.

  2. Loading method

Describe ground loading, ramps, a dock or crane. Include ground clearance, traction and winch needs.

  3. Truck and route

Bring tractor or tow-vehicle specifications, axle layout and intended routes. Trailer ratings do not establish a legal payload by themselves.

  4. Exact build and timing

Identify the model or listing, delivery location and target date. Ask sales to confirm the build sheet, condition and availability.

One example: TK110HDG

Questions before you choose.

Are all of these Trail King products in stock?

No. The family examples describe the manufacturer’s catalog. Western’s live listings show current available and incoming equipment separately. Contact sales to confirm sourcing and timing for a configuration without a matching listing.

How do I compare a detachable lowboy with a sliding-tail trailer?

Start with the load and loading method. A detachable lowboy provides front access to a low deck; a sliding-tail trailer supports rear loading. Compare the machine’s weight, clearance, support points and required loading angle with the exact trailer.

Does the reference capacity mean I can carry that weight on my route?

A trailer’s structural rating is only one part of the review. The actual empty weights, axle arrangement, tractor, load position and route requirements determine the usable combination. Confirm the full proposal before setting a load.

What should I send with a Trail King inquiry?

Include the equipment or material, weight and dimensions, loading method, tractor or tow vehicle, routes, delivery location and target date. Add the listing link or manufacturer model if you already have one in mind.
