The bearing race is used with the wheel bearing to spin freely inside of it once it's installed on the spindle. Once the spindle nut is installed it keeps the perfect amount of tension on the cup and bearing inside of it to allow the wheel to spin freely, smoothly, and in perfect circle rotation.
