XL MGX expandable trunnions

The MGX expands the width of its rear wheel area rather than the length of its main deck. Its 16-tire trunnion arrangement makes it a different starting point from a conventional lowboy or an extendable deck.

Where this family fits

XL describes the 100 MGX with a 44-foot overall length and a 23-foot load-bearing main deck. Air cylinders move the wheel area from 8 feet 6 inches to 10 feet wide. The published concentrated rating is 100,000 pounds over 16 feet.

Review the entire combination against your route and operating requirements. More tires or an expanded wheel area do not establish a permitted payload. XL’s policy gives trunnion suspension trailers, including MGX, two-year structural coverage rather than its general five-year structural term; conditions apply.

XL buying questions

A few things worth clarifying.

Is an MGX an extendable lowboy?

Its wheel area expands in width. It does not use the length-extending main-deck arrangement of an HDE or MDE. Choose the family around the load dimensions, truck and required axle arrangement.

Is this an in-stock trailer or a configuration to discuss?

The specifications describe the manufacturer’s reference configuration. Matching live listings appear separately on this page. If none are listed, ask Western Truck & Trailer about current availability, specifications and order timing.
